Full-Service Mowing

Full-Service Mowing

Starting and maintaining a healthy lawn doesn't stop at seeding.

Our full-service mowing service is one of the best ways to ensure that your newly-seeded lawn matures well. Each lawn is mowed by our own staff with no subcontractors which leads to inconsistency and errors that can damage a lawn. Ewald's qualified, full-trained technicians use only newer, high-quality equipment with sharpened blades. Our technicians mow at the correct height for the time of year, and consider the growing conditions of each property. In addition, we treat our equipment to prevent disease from spreading between lawns.

Full-Service Mowing includes:
  • Professional mowing
  • Trimming
  • Sidewalk, curb edging
  • Lawn striping
  • Litter, garbage pick up
  • Blow-off of debris
Fertilizing
& Weed Control

Comprehensive Fertilizing & Weed Control

A necessary part of a full, healthy lawn.

Fertilizing is a necessary part of a healthy lawn. All grass grows with the application of water, light and nutrients. Over time, the naturally-occurring nutrients in soil for healthy grass are consumed, and nutrients must be replaced through consistent fertilizing. Unhealthy lawns are susceptible to disease and weeds that can quickly crowd out weakened grass. Ewald's Fertilizing and Weed Control service will be specifically designed for your lawn's characteristics to result in a greener, fuller lawn. When paired with our Full-Service Mowing, free-spot-checks and spraying of newly-sprouted weeds can occur weekly.

Comprehensive Fertilizing & Weed Control includes:
  • Up to five seasonal applications
  • New included! Grub control
  • Crabgrass control
  • Weed control
  • Winterizer
  • Free weed spot-checking & call-backs
Core Aeration

Core Aeration

A necessary part of a greener, picture-perfect lawn.

Core aeration, as opposed to slicing or spiking, opens the soil to nutrients, air and moisture by removing plugs of soil and allowing them to break down naturally back into the lawn. Without aeration, the soil becomes increasingly compacted in part due to inconsistent watering, the heat of summers, and age. Aerated soil is more loose and better able to absorb fertilizer, rain, and drought-management efforts. Core aeration should be done annually and is a necessary part of a greener, picture-perfect lawn.

  • Dethatching with a vertical mower; thatch removed off-site to eliminate buildup
  • Removal of dead growth from landscape beds
  • Reparing snowplow damage
  • Re-defining landscape beds ensuring a manicured look
  • Pre-emergent weed control (Spring)
  • Installation of mulch (Spring)
  • Leaf cleanup and removal from turf and planting beds
Pest Control

Pest Control

Protect the appearance and value of your property.

Grubs, Japanese Beetles, Emerald Ash Borer and more can be more than a nuisance. These invasive insects can destroy the appearance of plants and value of your yard. In some cases, such as with Emerald Ash Borer, if an infestation is not treated early, the plant will die. Fortunately, scientifically-designed formulas are available to defeat these destructive pests. Developed at the University of Michigan, our formula for Emerald Ash Border is the most effective available, and municipalities across the Midwest are using it.

Benefits of Pest Control include:

  • Saves trees and plants from being cut down
  • Lasts up to two years
  • Environmentally-safe
  • Protects property value
  • Reduces liability from falling branches
  • Less expensive than tree removal
Overseeding

Overseeding

Reduce and eliminate thinning and bare spots.

Midwest summers are hard on lawns, and many experience the effects of thinning, bare spots, or increased insects and disease. A thick, healthy lawn resists these problems and is more able to withstand tough summers. Overseeding is the measured application of more seed, specially-chosen for your property's characteristics. Not applicable for everyone, overseeding should be used when thinning or bare spots are visibly noticeable.

Hydroseeding

Hydroseeding

Better, faster germination than dry seeding.

Hydroseeding is a fast, economical alternative to sod when starting a new lawn. Not only is hydroseeding less than half the cost of sod, the organic environment created by hydroseeding results in better, faster germination rates than traditional dry seeding methods. The included mulch increases moisture retention and decreases erosion.

Hydroseeding results in:

  • Quick establishment
  • Better, faster germination than dry seeding
  • Less expensive than sodding
  • Green appearance immediately after application
  • No straw to blow around
  • No netting to get caught in mowers
  • Custom seed blends for each site
  • Suitable for erosion control
Drought Management

Drought Management

Water up to 50% less and maintain healthy, good-looking plants and turf.

Ewald Services offers Hydretain as part of a drought management program. Hydretain is used commercially by golf courses, nurseries, sod farms, and top landscapers. Its revolutionary chemistry allows homeowners to water up to 50% less and maintain healthy, good-looking plants and turf.

Hydretain is all-natural, made from food-grade materials, and is fully biodegradable. It contains no phosphates, petrochemical derivatives or other toxic fractions, which may cause groundwater contamination. Its patented blend of liquid humectant and hygroscopic compounds attract and hold moisture in the soil, extending watering intervals by as much as 2 to 3 times. Reduced watering is possible for up to three months before re-application.

Drought Management includes:

  • Minimize drought stress
  • Maintain plant health
  • Extend watering intervals
  • Improve transplant success
  • Protect against opportunistic pests
  • Lower utility bills through reduced watering
  • Avoid watering restriction fines
